Hij zorgt ervoor dat de machine in goede staat is, dat ze gesmeerd wordt en voert de nodige onderhoudswerkzaamheden uit. Onderweg moet hij of zij zich aan de borden houden en ervoor zorgen dat de reis veilig verloopt. Zodra het konvooi onderweg is, is hij de &#8220;kapitein&#8221; van het schip.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Om een stoommonteur te worden heb je een aantal jaren scholing nodig en een goede kennis van de werking van de machine.
