The educational team has developed a range of activities and workshops to help your pupils discover the world of railways in a fun and original way, starting with kindergarten!
The museum offers a dynamic and interactive guided tour adapted to the age of the group.

Kindergarten

The train of the senses – 1h00, max. 25 children

We approach the world of railways through the senses of sight, touch, hearing and smell, offering four different fun workshops in the museum.

Children will discover our magnificent collection, learn the basics about railroads and different types of energy, and have fun at the same time.

Animal train – 1 hour max. 25 children

We introduce children to the world of trains, using terms and models inspired by the animal kingdom.
Children will discover the world of trains through games and learn about different concepts in a fun way, while strolling along the Museum’s platforms.

If the train were told to me… – between 15 and 45 minutes, max. 25 children

Comfortably seated, you’ll travel from story to story in first class aboard our kamishibai. A little laughter, a little poetry and a little knowledge finely distilled to the rhythm of words.

Primary

The train of trades – 1 hour max. 25 children

Put on your gloves, put on your monocle or grab your shovel, and plunge into the world of trains…

We cover topics such as the changing states of water, the origin and combustion of coal, the different energies used on the rails, the evolution of locomotives and the performance of these incredible machines…

Safety around railroads – 1 hour max. 25 children

Railway safety will have no more secrets for children after this animation devoted to signalling for our little budding pedestrians and cyclists. After an interactive presentation, children will be invited to test their knowledge in the field before leaving with their certificate in hand.

Full steam ahead!

An animation focusing on the different states of water, how steam works in the locomotive, and the pressure exerted by the locomotive, through fun little experiments performed by the animator.

Railway signalling – 1 hour max. 25 children

After a few basic notions of railway signalling and the discovery of certain instruments, each student will make and decorate a paper lantern. Fun and conviviality guaranteed!

I’ve got a ticket! – 1 hour max. 25 children

After a few basic notions on the history of tickets and the discovery of certain instruments, each student will create his or her own ticket using stamps and an original inking system. Fun and conviviality guaranteed!
